DID YOU KNOW… that the Women’s Great Turning Program includes our Mindful Inclusion Series, helping practitioners provide thoughtful and effective care for transgender patients, individuals with eating disorders, and neurodivergent patients?
Many practitioners received little or no training in these areas during their formal education. Yet these are people who walk through our clinic doors every day. Most of us want to provide skillful, respectful, and effective care. We want our patients to feel seen and understood. But many practitioners also worry about using the wrong language, making assumptions, or unintentionally creating discomfort during intake and treatment.
The Mindful Inclusion Series was created to help bridge that gap.
These recorded classes explore practical language considerations, communication strategies, and clinical awareness when working with transgender patients, individuals with eating disorders, and neurodivergent patients. The goal is not simply political correctness. The goal is creating a therapeutic environment in which patients feel safe enough to tell us what we need to know in order to help them.
As practitioners of East Asian medicine, we spend a great deal of time listening. We ask intimate questions. We discuss menstruation, fertility, sexuality, body image, pregnancy, menopause, pain, trauma, and deeply personal experiences. The quality of our listening often determines the quality of our diagnosis.
When patients feel understood, they tell us more. When they tell us more, we see more clearly. And when we see more clearly, we can practice medicine more effectively. The Women’s Great Turning Program is ultimately about understanding women and the people who seek our care—not only through physiology, formulas, and pattern differentiation, but also through thoughtful, compassionate clinical relationships.
Because excellent medicine begins with understanding the person sitting in front of us.
