Suzanne Connole originally found her way to Chinese Medicine after acupuncture helped heal her own chronic debilitating pain. She graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2003. During her studies she discovered her love of both herbal medicine and women’s health and followed that pathway by becoming a doula, lactation consultant and childbirth acupuncturist as well. She has been in clinical practice for 19 years and a teacher for 15 with a focus on women’s health, pregnancy and postpartum for most of her practice and loves to guide and support women through life’s transitions. She believes in learning through teaching and has taught at Pacific College of Health Sciences, was Director of Herbal Studies at Tri-State College. Presently she teaches herbal medicine at the Won Institute of Graduate Studies and nutrition and herbal medicine at The New England School of Acupuncture. She is proud to be on the board of both the Shen Nong Society for Herbal Medicine Studies and the White Pine Circle. After studying with various teachers she found a pathway to study classical medicine with Sharon Weizenbaum and has been both a participant and a TA for many years in the Graduate Mentorship. Suzanne lives and practices in Kingston, New York with her daughter Daphne and enjoys hiking and chasing waterfalls in the Catskill mountains.
Sally has been practicing since 1998 and she has focused on classical herbal medicine for more than 15 years. In 2016 she founded the Shen nong Society to provide an opportunity for practitioners of East Asian herbal medicine a time to gather together at an annual conference in order to share insights and information pertaining to our field.
She has studied with Sharon Weizenbaum, Yaron Seidman, Ed Neal and many other teachers. She has found that understanding the principles of the great sweeping motions clarifies clinical issues with many patients. Initially after TCM school, there were complex cases that she found confusing to address; as she deepened her understanding of the classics, she was able to refine her diagnostic skills and help people with complicated conditions. By studying the basic formulas and seeing how they are the root of most other formulas, she has learned the intricacies of formula modification. She loves teaching and mentoring to help other practitioners increase their understanding and knowledge of diagnostic principles , formulas and formula modification through the lens of the six conformations and the circular cycles of life based in yin/ yang principles.
