This 3 part course is to familiarize anyone working with OB/GYN patients with the language of biomedicine that patients may bring to clinic. It is for anyone who doesn't feel articulate with different types of diseases presentations and will review basic symptomology as well as highlight when to refer patients to a western practitioner. These classes are also the intro to a one year online program on Women's Health that begins in January of 2023.
- Part 1 will discuss basic anatomy and physiology, bleeding and not bleeding disorders and common diseases of the female reproductive tract including uterine and ovarian pathologies.
- Part 2 will discuss pelvic pain disorders and how to discriminate between them, and the language in fertility and maternity patients including assisted reproduction discussion of hormones and treatments.
- Part 3 will present the language of perimenopause and menopause as well as common biomedical treatments, vulvovaginal diseases, pelvic masses and the common presentations of patients with reproductive cancers.

After receiving her B.A. in Psychology and Biology from Boston University in 1990, Caroline taught and traveled in Asia, exploring the philosophies of the East. She returned to San Francisco where she received her Master’s of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine where she had the great honor of training with Dr. Lifang Liang, a Chinese Gynecologist specializing in Obstetrics and Infertility. Dr. Liang is the renowned author of texts on Gynecology and IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). Caroline also did post-graduate study in mainland China at the Nan Chang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and later completed her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City (now PCHS) where she is on the Faculty of the Department of Herbal Medicine. She has completed advanced training in Chinese Medical Dermatology with Dr Mazin Al-Khafaji and is listed on the International Register of Chinese Medicine Dermatology and is on the Board of the International Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Association (ITCMDA). She completed advanced training with Sharon Weizenbaum in the two-year Graduate Mentorship Program, where she is a Teaching Assistant, and with Suzanne Robidoux in the 2-year Internship in the Feng-Shi Lun Jing Fang Herbal Medicine lineage. Caroline is also the co-founder and Vice President of a non-profit professional organization for practitioners of East Asian Herbal Medicine, the Shen Nong Society that sponsors an annual Conference for Herbalists in New York.
Caroline has practiced and taught in Metro New York area since 1995 where she was a founding partner of Soho Herbs and Acupuncture and has taught at the major institutions of Traditional Chinese Medicine in New York City, including the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Mercy College Graduate Department of Oriental Medicine, and Touro College Graduate Department of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, primarily in the Departments of Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Oriental Medicine, as well as at the New York Medical College in the Medical Acupuncture Program for Physicians. Presently, Caroline lectures on Women's Reproductive Health and Menopause for Doctoral Programs in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Virginia and on Introductory Herbal Medicine in the Master's Program at the Pacific College of Health Sciences in New York. She has also lectured privately and for several Continuing Education Departments on the Treatment of Infertility and Pregnancy with Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She continues to specialize in the treatment of Obstetrical and Gynecological Disorders, Internal Medicine, and Dermatology.
Caroline is licensed by the States of New York and New Jersey, as well as Board Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She has sat on the Chinese Herbal Exam Review Committee for the NCCAOM and is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and NJAAOM: NJ Assoc for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
