All 12 Saam channel qualities are needed for life. No wonder patients are complex! This course explores presentations that appear when the elemental physical properties of multiple channel excesses are combined. Familiarizing ourselves with the relationships between the Saam 12 channels will help us tease out the individual channel qualities more clearly. This simplifies diagnosis.
Video cases will be woven into the discussions to show examples of combinations. Videos are a great practice tool for Saam observation. These video cases have been reviewed by Toby Daly.
Course Objectives
- Exploring the possibilities of how Saam qualities present when multiple channel excesses are involved.
- Comparing and contrasting the qualities of each Saam channel with the other 11 primary channels.
- Considering how the qualities of one channel excess can modify or influence other channel presentations.
- Reviewing the primary qualities of the Saam channels.
- Practicing Saam observation by evaluating video subjects.

Kristin graduated from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine/San Diego in 1999. She has been practicing in southeastern Massachusetts since. Before Saam, she practiced in the traditions of Kiiko Matsumoto, Wang Ju-Yi, and also received sports medicine acupuncture certification with Matt Callison.
Kristin has been Toby Daly's teaching assistant for Saam Acupuncture since 2000. She moderated the Saam forum on Qiological.com for 2 years and had her own Saam mentorship group where she helped guide many students deepen their understanding of Saam.
Kristin has been studying with Sharon Weizenbaum for as long as she has been practicing. Sharon’s method of seeing elemental/physical physiology and pathology informs her understanding and practice of Saam.
Kristin’s classes are born out of her own curiosities and clinical challenges. She enjoys sharing the ideas and tools that she finds most clinically useful.
