Today we will go over Zhi Shi in the herb series. Zhi Shi is a common herb in many formulas, both classical and modern, such as Si Ni San, Zhi Shi Shao Yao San,Wen Dan Tang, Zhi Zi Hou Po tang, Da chai Hu Tang, etc.  We will go over how Zhi Shi is used in combination with different herbs and how the dosage changes in Formulas.

This course will include sections on:  

  1. How does the appearance, the part of the plant, the time it is harvested, and how it behaves influence the function of the herb?
  2. What do different classical texts say about its flavor, nature, and application
  3. How does this herb’s strengths get brought out or changed depending on the herbs it is combined with?
  4. How does the dosage of this herb influence its use?
  5. What herbs are similar to this herb?
  6. How is this herb placed on the circle depending on how it is combined and dosed?
  7. What are cautions and contraindications for this herb?
  8. How has the teacher thought of and used this herb clinically?
  9. How have other doctors thought of an used this herb? 

Through each class, you will gain a deep familiarity with the herb and leave empowered to apply it in your clinic. By doing the whole series, you will gain 25 CEUs.  The first two classes are free to all White Pine Circle Members and the entire course is free to Inner Circle Members.

Laura graduated from ICTCM in Vancouver BC Canada in 1997, In 2005 she moved to Portland Oregon and this past year opened a new clinic in the wonderful NE Alberta Arts district.

Laura has been in practice for the past 25 years, the past 10 years studying with Sharon Weizenbaum and works as a Teaching Assistant for the Graduate Mentorship Program for the past 6 years.
