"Cancer is scary for acupuncturists!" This is a message I hear too often. So it was great to be able to work with an international, multidisciplinary team to produce recommendations for the safe practice of acupuncture. These were designed to inform and empower practitioners of acupuncture to give safe and appropriate care to people with a diagnosis of cancer.
In this 3-hour session, I will take acupuncture practitioners through the recommendations, giving pointers on how best to use them. Topics covered include:
- Why and how the recommendations for the safe practice of acupuncture in cancer care were developed
- How to use the recommendations
- Fundamental requirements
- Acupuncture in the context of integrative oncology
- Contraindications, adverse events, red and amber flags
- Three frequently asked questions: Lymphoedema, Neutropenia, Anti-coagulants.
Treating people with a diagnosis of cancer need not be scary! Find out more by attending this class.
