Did you know that in the UK, while acupuncture is a 'registered profession' and educational standards for the Bachelor's degree are high, actually no single regulatory body prevents just anybody from opening up an acupuncture business without training?  Acupuncture education and licensure/registration policies (if any) vary widely around the world.  In this timely discussion, we highlight perspectives from countries such as the UK, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Portugal and Switzerland, where acupuncturists' status varies, as well as countries where acupuncture needles can be used only by MD's, midwives, and other biomedical professionals.

Panelists (invited, not all of whom have accepted yet) include: Debra Betts (New Zealand), Christopher Zaslawski (Australia), Anna Dix (Ontario), Ethan Murchie (Quebec), Felicity Moir and Julie Reynolds (UK), and Sandro Graca (Ireland, Portugal, Switzerland, and also chair of the 19-country Global Ambassadors group at the Society for Acupuncture Research).
